We grow and sell beef, pork, chicken, that we raise here on our small farm. Buying directly from us gives you better quality food affordably. Contact us to learn how to get it from our farm to your table!
We till the soil, we plant seeds and pray they’ll grow, we spend a lot of time fighting with weeds and rocks and feeding and caring for and cleaning up after chickens and pigs and cows, and we bring in the harvest and get it to you. And now and then we stand back and marvel at the beauty of God’s creation and the gift it is to work side by side with Him
In our fields we grow corn/rye/sorghum/alfalfa to feed our animals. In our smaller gardens we grow beans, peas, lettuce, kale, spinach, onions, potatoes, beets, celery, carrots, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini, watermelon, muskmelon, strawberries, raspberries and grapes to feed our family and visitors (and occasionally the neighbors when it’s a good year!)
A couple things you may or may not know:
1. Farming is a lot more “science and technology” than “manual labor.” It’s all actually quite a bit more complicated than tossing a few seeds in the ground and covering them with dirt, and we’d really like to tell you more about the great task of feeding the world and the great responsibility to care for the environment that keeps us alive. We know there’s a lot of information floating around out there about Organic Foods/non-GMO Foods/Chemicals and Fertilizers/Cow Farts being bad for the environment/the list goes on. We’ve found many of these things are buzz words people know little about and want you to learn what it all means so you can be an informed voter and consumer! Come get your hands dirty while learning about these things and decide for yourself what you want to feed your family and how we should be feeding the world. Follow our Farm on instagram for our latest photos and farm education and watch our plants grow!
2. We were commanded and created by God to work, to till the soil, to be co-creators with God. We plant and till, he provides the sun and the rain. He has hidden in plain sight so many of the most important life lessons we need to learn. There is so much about life that comes together when you are pulling weeds, planting seeds, patiently waiting for them to grow, or harvesting seeds. Read more about it on our blog or contact us to set up a time to bring your family or your classroom or youth group to learn some of the lessons God has for you on the farm!
3. Lean in…this one is a big secret……..Kids actually like chores. You aren’t so sure? I know they complain about them. I know we as adults don’t think we enjoy them either. But child development experts will be the first to say chores are great for kids. They give them a sense of belonging and importance in the family. What they do matters. They contribute. We as adults need this too. We need to know we make a difference, we have a role to play and we do it well. Can we agree the whole world needs a return to chores? Let us show you the fun in chores and working together with others.
